Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Players have started resorting to custom matches set up using Battlefield Portal to complete them, underscoring just how demanding these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four types of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 main guns available in the game.

Several of these locked weapons could shortly find their way on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash via Reddit

Within Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

Another Reddit user highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, within the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons

This is tough enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and perhaps Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: the portal. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

However, when tackling the tasks in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for completing them in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if some of these assignments are toned down in the near future, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.

At the moment, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these demanding in-game tasks, anticipating a fairer gaming experience in future updates.
